Alastair is a Partner in our pensions team in London and is independently recognised as a leader in the field.
He provides clients with all aspects of pensions advice, including transactional, documentation and litigation. He has particular expertise in advising major plcs on strategic pensions issues as well as handling scheme reconstructions, mergers and wind-ups. He also has extensive expertise in pensions aspects of employment contracts, particularly with regard to senior executive remuneration, service agreements and disputes.
Having stepped down from his role as the head of the national pensions team, Alastair is the strategic brains behind the team’s scheme support offering – which includes scheme secretarial work, project management and procurement. A former chair of the Association of Pension Lawyers, he is widely respected within the industry.
He regularly writes and speaks on pensions matters and is the author of ‘Tolley’s Pensions Cases’, the definitive work on the subject. Chambers UK 2015 describes Alastair as “very clear, attentive, and prompt in his responses.” In addition, Alastair is renowned for his strategic insight.
